Why I want to be a teacher, And the characteristics of a good teacher

The reason I decided to become a teacher is because of my Mathematical Literacy teacher who was a true inspiration to me. The way she believed in me, made me believe in myself. I decided that I want to be like her one day.

I think that a teacher is not only someone who teaches in a classroom, but it goes way beyond that. A teacher plays a big role in children’s lives. One of my main reasons for wanting to become a teacher is because a teacher has the power to open up children’s eyes so that they can rise above circumstances and reach their full potential.  

Characteristics that I think a good teacher should have are, firstly to set an example, to motivate children, and respect them as you a teacher want to be respected. A teacher should be able to create a sense of belonging in the classroom, and most importantly a teacher should be themselves and show that they care. ALL that said I think I will be a great teacher one day.
